 | arcastro57 wrote on Sep 22, '11 BTW, you can't buy a new ivory santo here and bring it to the U.S., it's against the law. You can buy antique ivory, but you need a certification from the National Museum (it was made over 100 years ago), to be able to bring it out. |

| arcastro57 wrote on Sep 22, '11 There are many restorers of wooden santos here, like Mr. Francisco Vecin of Makati and Mr. Thomas Joven of Pampanga province. Woodpaste statues here are nonexistent, so I don't think you would find restorers of those sort here.Sorry, but they don't sell restored items. There are carvers as well who make new statues for sale. and there are commercial shops that sell generic santos. I will have to e-mail you their contact e-mails as some of them are private people who will not take calls, except by appointment. Thanks. |

Sorry I wasn't clear I was wondering if either restorer does restoring of wood statues and woodpaste statues? and also do they sell statues that are fully restored and ready to go? Preferably a blessed mother statue made of Ivory? I am currently researching about the painter and I am finding it difficult to get specific information on him/her. | arcastro57 wrote on Mar 8, '11 Cindy, Romeo Enriquez was a Filipino artist who painted in the realist tradition and whose specialty was making portraits. He did major commissions from San Miguel Corp. and his artworks were turned into calendars. He used to have an atelier along Mabini St., in Manila, the enclave of conservative artists, known collectively as the Mabini Group, who are known for their commercial art that catered to tourists and home decorators. I am sorry but I am not an expert in giving estimates--but theres a small Enriquez painting now on ebay that's being sold for over a thousand dollars by a Philippine seller (but once contacted, they were willing to bring to down to $800). |
